Compress your image

Up to 25 MB per file

Select an image to begin. Images are processed entirely in your browser.

When should you compress or resize images?

Smaller image files can reduce page load time and make attachments easier to share. Resize a 5000-pixel photo to the width you actually need before choosing a compression quality. For most photos, JPEG or WebP is suitable; for diagrams, transparent graphics or sharp text, PNG may preserve edges better but can be larger.

HOW IT WORKS

Resize and compress without uploading

  1. Choose a JPEG, PNG or WebP image from your device or drag it into the drop area.
  2. Set a width and height. Keep aspect ratio enabled to avoid stretching. Large images are initially fitted to 4096 pixels on their longest side.
  3. Choose an output format: WebP for modern web graphics, JPEG for compatibility, or PNG for lossless output with transparency.
  4. For WebP or JPEG, try 75–85% quality, then choose Compress & preview. Compare the original and result sizes.
  5. If you're happy with the preview, select Download optimized image. Processing happens on-device.

Image quality and trade-offs

Lower quality can yield smaller JPEG and WebP files but may introduce visible artifacts. PNG is lossless; quality settings have no effect on it. Some images can become larger after conversion, so this tool reports the real byte difference rather than promising a fixed compression rate.

Privacy, limitations and transparent images

Vyblet does not receive the source file. Your browser decodes the image and uses Canvas to generate a new file. PNG and WebP can retain transparency, while JPEG cannot; transparent areas are filled white when exporting JPEG. Animated files are not supported as animations; only a static frame may be exported. Very large dimensions may be rejected to avoid crashing the browser. Embedded metadata such as EXIF, GPS coordinates and some color profiles is typically not preserved by Canvas export; do not use this tool when that metadata is required. This page may still load Google's advertising script, which is separate from image processing.

Frequently asked questions

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. The selected JPEG, PNG or WebP file is decoded and exported locally in your browser. Your image pixels are not sent to a Vyblet processing server.

Why is the compressed image larger?

Re-encoding a small or already optimized file can increase its size, especially if you choose PNG or very high quality. Compare the reported bytes and try different settings.

Does changing quality affect PNG?

No. PNG encoding is lossless in the browser Canvas API. Use JPEG or WebP for adjustable quality and consider reducing pixel dimensions.

Can I keep transparent backgrounds?

Choose PNG or WebP for transparency. JPEG does not support alpha, so transparent areas are composited over white in this tool.
